To prevent greening, potatoes must be stored in stores and at home protected from light.

Eating green potatoes can cause poisoning symptoms such as stomach or intestinal pain, diarrhea, vomiting and nervous symptoms.

Instead, the green color of the carrot is caused by leaf green, which is formed if the carrot stock is exposed to light while growing. The green strain is not poisonous, but due to its bitter taste it is good to cut it off.
