Fresh the BBC in the interview, the singer admits that he is grateful for the phenomenon that has formed around his song. For a long time, he avoided his hit song.
– I didn’t sing it for 15 years, Astley said on the BBC broadcast.
Astley says that some artists could be intimidated by the popularity of one song. Never Gonna Give You Up -song has been watched a whopping 1.4 billion times on YouTube.
However, Astley has slowly learned to appreciate the song again.
– I don’t want to shake it off my heels. It has opened so many doors. Honestly, I wish I had five more like it, says Astley.

– Without my old songs and the rickrolling phenomenon, I wouldn’t have been invited to Glastonbury.
Astley says his music has changed since the golden days of the 1980s. Still, he’s grateful Never Gonna Give You Up of success.
– I slip in new songs every now and then, but I wouldn’t be here without my background.
