Do owners of solar panels also deserve the security of a long-term energy contract? This is the result of the statement of the day

Do you have solar panels? That could mean a long-term energy contract with many suppliers. Should something be done about that?

The vast majority of voters of the Statement of the Day think so: 94 percent. “The exclusion of so many people with solar panels on their roof is shocking. I returned to them three years ago after much insistence from Essent and now I receive this as a thank you,” writes one supporter.

“It was first recommended to get solar panels, now that we have all invested a lot of money in them, they are starting to threaten, the big energy giants. Let them ensure (in consultation) that the outdated power grid can handle it,” adds another.

“Investing in green energy must be permanently rewarded. Also for the less well-off, who have only now had their turn. A large part of the incentives and subsidies have ended up with those who could have paid for it themselves,” says another proponent.

Opponents are in a significant minority at 6 percent. “If you don’t have solar panels, you pay for people with panels,” writes someone who voted against.

“Other producers of products with a variable price also do not receive a long-term contract with a fixed price,” adds an opponent.
