About five years ago Evert Sankrediets was featured as one of the questioners in De Slimste Mens, but he has always refused to participate as a candidate. The Privé editor-in-chief is always on holiday during the recording period, he says in his own podcast Strictly Private.
Evert refuses
Although Evert thinks it is a very sympathetic program, they do not have to count on him. “I’ve been regularly asked for it, but the recordings are always in the second half of June and that’s when I’m on vacation, so that’s never really an option. I once asked the questions, but that’s it.”
Jordi Versteegden, the presenter of the podcast, said: “But would you like it? Would you move your vacation for it?”
Postpone your holiday?
No, putting up his holiday to participate in De Slimste Mens does not suit Evert. “No, I’m not going to postpone my vacation for it. That is always very complicated to plan, because it has to be possible at both SBS 6 and Privé at the same time, so I always have those weeks fixed and so do they, so then we can’t agree, huh?”
Would Evert be able to make it to the final as a candidate? “Well, you do need a lot of luck. If you just read the newspaper you will come a long way and my general knowledge is that sometimes I’m yelling answers at that television.”

What is Evert yelling for example? “Then I’m surprised that Hanneke Groenteman doesn’t know what Koefnoen means, for example. That really surprised me at the time.”
He concludes: “It just depends on the questions. I don’t know anything about cartoon characters and the like, but if you don’t get those questions, I think I can get along.”
