Spaghetti, penne, fusilli, macaroni, tagliatelle… There are plenty of different pastas, and the best thing is that they are all prepared quickly in the pot.

Cooking pasta isn’t difficult, but it’s still easy to go wild in a few places. We listed four important tips to help you cook the perfect pasta.

1. Use a large pot

A large pot can hold a lot of water, and the pasta cooks evenly in plenty of water. When the pasta has space around it, it also stays loose in the pot. So always use a large pot and stir the pasta a few times during boiling. This way the pasta stays loose the best.

2. Remember the salt

It is important to add salt to the pasta cooking water. Add salt to the water even before the water even boils, so you don’t forget an important step. Is salt mandatory? Well, you will taste it if it has been forgotten. As the Italians say, salt in pasta water is non-negotiable.

3. Forget the oil

Some people tend to add oil to the pasta cooking water. The idea here is to make the pasta stay loose. However, adding oil is pointless, as it does not affect the looseness of the pasta. So the oil is mostly wasted in the boiler. A large amount of oil may also prevent the sauce from sticking to the surface of the pasta, which we don’t want.

4. Follow the instruction time

Look at the side of the bag for the cooking time and follow it exactly. There is nothing as unpleasant as overcooked pasta.
