The 40-year-old Do Broeders from Raamsdonksveer died on Thursday morning after an accident with his scooter. He worked as a sound engineer with artists such as Mart Hoogkamer and folk singer Lorenzo Nieuwenhuijsen. He was riding his scooter at the intersection of Wielstraat with Halve Zolenpad in Raamsdonk when he was hit by a van.
The accident happened around ten to nine. Emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, came to the scene of the accident. The intersection was closed. Do was seriously injured and taken to hospital. There he died of his injuries.
The driver of the van was not injured. The police are still investigating exactly what happened.
‘Waiting for goodbye’
Reactions to Do’s death are pouring in on social media. He worked as a sound man with artists. Many friends and people who have worked with him are expressing how sorry they are about the news. “I will miss you buddy”, writes Mart Hoogkamer for example.
Do is survived by his wife and three children. One of the relatives writes on Facebook: “To our great astonishment, the news came this morning that Do had a scooter accident. A few hours later, the sad news came that they could not save him. Our great friend is no longer here. I am now with the relatives in the hospital and wait until we can say goodbye.”
