Help from outside

Wrong information about Russia

H’rystych, who first represented the Soviet Union and later Ukraine in the national team, is frustrated by the kind of misinformation being spread in Russia.

– I grew up in the Soviet Union and we knew what we knew back then. We were told we were the best country and that other countries wanted to hurt us. We are the best, our president is the best. This is the mindset I grew up with.

H’rystitch feels obliged to stay in Ukraine.

– I am in a place that, fortunately for us, is quite quiet compared to other places in Ukraine. But who knows what will happen. For now, I have to be here. This is a terrible situation. A situation I never thought would happen, but I have to be here with my people.

According to ESPN, another reason for staying in the country is that H’rystich’s wife works in an ambulance.
