Track cycling star Emma Hinze impressively demonstrated her dominance with her fourth championship title in the national title fights in Kaarst-Büttgen.
The five-time world champion also won the sprint competition in the final against her training and teammate Lea Sophie Friedrich, making her the most successful athlete of the 135th German Championships. She had previously celebrated in the team sprint, time trial and keirin. Pauline Grabosch won the bronze medal.
After his triumph in the sprint, Stefan Bötticher also won the title in the keirin of the men. The 30-year-old won the final ahead of Maximilian Dörnbach (RSC Cottbus) and Marc Jurczyk (Turbine Erfurt). “It went unexpectedly well. I’m super happy to go home with two championship titles. The last time I did that was in Cottbus in 2014,” said Bötticher.
In the Madison, Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt from Berlin prevailed. The world champions of 2018 and 2019 fended off the attack by Tim Torn Teutenberg and his partner Moritz Malcharek (Mettmann/Berlin). Teutenberg had previously won three gold medals in Büttgen. The women’s title went to the combination Lena Charlotte Reißner/Lana Eberle (Gera/Oberhausen).
