In her own words, musician Sia (47, “Chandelier”) was “really thrown off track” by her separation in 2016.

“It was such a dark time that I lay in bed for three years – really severely depressed,” the Australian told the streaming service Apple Music. After her marriage to film producer Erik Anders Lang, whom she married in 2014, she was only able to write a song “every now and then,” as the Australian explained.

The singer and songwriter had previously spoken about her depression and dealt with it in songs like “Breathe Me”. After strong public criticism of her musical drama “Music,” which was released in 2021, the Grammy winner also suffered from suicidal thoughts and went to a rehab clinic, as she told the “New York Times” last year.

In the meantime, Sia is happy again and now has a “very nice husband,” as she said in the conversation with Apple Music.

According to media reports, she married her boyfriend Dan Bernard in May.

At some point she started writing songs again, “just little pieces here and there,” says Sia. “But it was really hard to get myself out of bed.” Eventually she had enough songs together for her new album “Reasonable Woman,” which she plans to release next year. A first single from the album titled “Gimme Love” was released on Wednesday.
