The candidacy of Xavier Trias to try to recover the mayoralty of Barcelona has reopened the division within Together for Catalonia. The former mayor defended his list this Wednesday before the municipal assembly of the formation and came across a dozen critical interventions that questioned some profiles included and the absences, such as the lack of leaders related to the president of the party, Laura Borras. For their part, a dozen members of the assembly endorsed the mayor’s proposal, which the militants have to ratify this Thursday in a vote in which a certain vote of punishment is not ruled out.
The debate in the assembly, in which a hundred people participated, once again reflected the two souls by JxCat. According to sources familiar with the meeting, Trias gave an optimistic speech about his options to recover the mayoralty and defended the transversality of the candidacy, in which there are leaders from the environment of the ‘ex-president’ Carles Puigdemont, such as Joseph Riusas representatives of the old CiU, such as the former vice president of the Government and former leader of Unió Joanna Ortega.
