Deerlijk invites the local residents to sound at the end of the road works, who have been delayed quite a bit. The reactions are often positive, although there is also some criticism, for example about the waffle street that connects to the intersection.

“The cyclist is still the weakest road user there. He has to drive at his own risk between the trucks to get to the front of the lights. There are no cycle or footpath. It is exactly the Wild West,” says local resident Jan Vanoverberghe.

For certain residents, the closed Oude Vichtestraat is a point of criticism. “They have to do a detour if they want to go to the center of Deerlijk. Although I think we can generally be satisfied with the redesign of the intersection,” says Filip Terryn who also lives in the neighborhood.
