A diver who was working on the Afsluitdijk this morning has become trapped under water. Emergency services rushed out en masse to help the man.
Divers from the North Holland North Safety Region have freed the diver from his predicament. He is back on the water and is receiving first aid on the spot, a spokesperson for the security region said.
An air ambulance also arrived at the scene. The accident caused some delay on the Afsluitdijk, but traffic is now moving on again.
It is not yet clear how the diver is doing.
