Distortion of competition? Galatasaray coach attacks FC Bayern

Last week, an uninspired FC Bayern struggled to a dull zero against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. The performance of the Munich team, who had already won the group, did not cause any enthusiasm among the competition.

If Manuel Neuer hadn’t been wide awake shortly before the end, FC Bayern’s most recent premier class evening could have ended in a surprising home defeat. The record champions only saved a point thanks to the captain’s brilliant saves.

The truth, however, is that even a defeat would not have changed anything for coach Thomas Tuchel’s revamped team. FC Bayern has been first in Group A since the fourth matchday.

However, the fact that the Munich team, who had previously lost no points, let the reins slide against the Danish champions in such a way caused anger in Turkey. It seems as if Galatasaray were fully expecting help.

Galatasaray coach disappointed by FC Bayern

Background: If the Bundesliga team had won, Gala (five points) would have gone into the “final” in Copenhagen in second place. On December 12th, a draw would have been enough for the round of 16, provided Manchester United (four points) did not win against FC Bayern. All three clubs can still reach the knockout phase.

Now Galatasaray are doomed to win, as Copenhagen also have five points and a goal difference that is one goal better. The first leg ended 2-2.

Gala coach Okan Buruk is upset. “We are disappointed that Bayern Munich gave up a point to Copenhagen. They rotated for the first time and didn’t look as if they wanted to win,” complained the 50-year-old to “tntspor”.

His protégés were “the unlucky team in the games because we had to play the third and fourth games against Bayern,” said the trainer, who still doesn’t want to give up hope of progressing: “My expectations for Bayern’s last game against Manchester United are high”.
