Dispute over Tiktok video: SSC Naples Osimhen with conciliatory words

Conciliatory words from the Napoli professional

Attacker Victor Osimhen published conciliatory words on his Instagram channel after the social media dispute with SSC Napoli. “Coming to the city of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The people of Naples have shown me so much love and kindness and I will not let anyone come between us. The passion of the Neapolitan people fuels my fire to always play with heart and soul and the love for the coat of arms is unwavering as I wear it with pride,” the Nigerian wrote.

“The accusations against the people of Naples are untrue. I have many friends who are Neapolitan and have become part of my family and my everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone else for raising their voices to support and reach out to me,” Osimhen continued.

A video published on the social media platform “Tiktok” has caused a dispute between Osimhen and his club SSC Napoli, which could have an impact on his sporting future. The 24-year-old center forward’s agent has already threatened the Italian champions with legal consequences.

The now-deleted post from Napoli’s official account used a laughing cartoon voice to make fun of Osimhen’s missed penalty in the Serie A game against FC Bologna (0-0) on Sunday. This caused displeasure among the player and his agent Roberto Calenda.

“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the Tiktok platform is unacceptable. A video mocking Victor was first published and then belatedly deleted. A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy has been suffering recently between media reports and fake news. We reserve the right to take legal action and take any reasonable initiative to protect Victor,” wrote the Nigerian’s agent on the social media platform “X” on Tuesday evening.

Napoli made an official statement on Thursday statement about the incident and emphasized that they “never wanted to insult or mock” Osimhen. “As proof of this, the club decisively rejected every offer to transfer the striker abroad during the summer break.” As is often the case, they used a relaxed and creative language on “Tiktok”, but did not want to mock Osimhen. “If Victor felt insulted in any way, this was in any case not the club’s intention.”

Osimhen in a dispute with SSC Napoli: fears of impact on new contract

The dispute between Osimhen and his employer comes at a time when a contract extension should actually be negotiated. After the club turned down a transfer of the fourth most valuable footballer in the world at 120 million euros last summer, the former Wolfsburg player was given the prospect of a new working paper that provided for a significantly improved salary.

Regardless of whether there actually is a legal dispute between the club and the player, the fronts have hardened for the time being. Osimhen, who went without a goal in four games after scoring three goals in the first two games, deleted almost all posts on his Instagram account that showed him in the “Azzurri” jersey. His current contract runs until June 2025.
