Several prisoners and employees were injured in a major argument on Monday afternoon in the Heidering prison in Großbeeren (Teltow-Fläming district).
The conflict among around 50 prisoners occurred when they were outdoors every day, as the Senate Department for Justice, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination announced on Tuesday.
Four servants and three prisoners were injured.
A broken cup was “misused” as part of the argument, but no other dangerous objects have been found so far, it said.
Different nationalities were involved in the argument. There was initially no further information – including the specific cause.
After the start of the dispute, an alarm was triggered immediately, the prisoners involved were separated and the free period was canceled, the Senate administration said.
Further clashes broke out as they moved in. Prisoners pointed out that pointed objects had been used.
The three slightly injured detainees received medical care. They were among the ten prisoners who could already be positively identified as involved, it said.
Three of the four injured employees were therefore able to continue their service. The police took up several reports and the investigation is ongoing.
