Dispute ends fatally – Berlin police are looking for witnesses

A man who was critically injured in Schöneberg on Sunday afternoon died of his injuries in a hospital on Monday morning. Now the police are looking for more witnesses.

According to witnesses, the now deceased got into a loud argument with an unknown man on the sidewalk of Zietenstrasse on Sunday around 2:30 p.m fled in the direction of Bülowstrasse.

Passers-by rendered first aid to the injured and alerted the police and fire brigade. Rescue workers took the critically injured man to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and died on Monday morning.

The second homicide commission of the State Criminal Police Office and the Berlin public prosecutor’s office have taken over further investigations.

According to the police, the dead man is 35-year-old Yunus Özberk.

► According to the investigations so far, it is likely that he knew the unknown suspect, who is described as follows:

  • about 30 years old
  • about 175 to 180 cm tall
  • slim to muscular figure
  • short, dark, well-groomed hair
  • round face
  • no beard
  • southern looks
  • could have come to the later crime scene with an electric scooter

According to the investigations so far, Mr. Özberk is said to have been on the road with an e-scooter.
