RAVENSBURG (dpa-AFX) – A million-dollar lawsuit for damages by numerous sawmills against the state of Baden-Württemberg is entering the next round. After the Stuttgart Regional Court dismissed the lawsuit, the plaintiffs have now appealed to the Higher Regional Court, a court spokesman said on Wednesday. A date for the hearing has not yet been set. The “Schwäbische Zeitung” had previously reported on it.
The Stuttgart Regional Court ruled in January that a so-called compensation company of the companies was not entitled to assert claims. Such a class action lawsuit violates the Legal Services Act.
36 companies of different sizes that have joined together in the equalization company had accused the state of having paid too much money for round wood between 1978 and September 2016. The claim for damages, which has now been rejected, was around 450 million euros including interest./ols/DP/men
