Apple announced the color at WWDC 2022, where many new software products were presented. According to specialist Mark Gurman, who publishes the Power On newsletter on the media Bloomberg“ the company is about to embark on one of the most ambitious new product launch periods in its history, with the deluge arriving between the fall of 2022 and the first half of 2023 “.
The iPhone 14 Pro should be full of new features
Over this period, the Apple brand will market four new iPhones, two basic models and two Pro and Pro Max models. It is these last two devices that will benefit from real added value, with in particular the very fast A16 bionic chip, while the iPhone 14 will be equipped with the A15 chip, like the iPhone 13.
VMware acquisition by Broadcom delayed by European Commission
During WWDC, Apple presented iOS 16 and its new lock screen, on which widgets can be placed. Owners of an iPhone 14 Pro will be able to go even further: their screen will always be active, as with the Apple Watch. This means that the device will be able to display widgets showing weather, calendars, stocks, activities and other data while the screen remains at low brightness and frame rate.
In addition, both iPhone 14 Pro models will benefit from several new features, namely an improved front camera, an innovative rear camera system that includes a 48 megapixel sensor, thinner edges and a notch. redesigned with a pill-shaped cutout for Face ID as well as a hole for the camera.
Three new models of Apple Watch
Things should also move on the side of connected watches from the Cupertino company, with the release of three new models: the standard Watch Series 8, a new SE, and a more robust watch intended for people who practice extreme sports. Moreover, the novelties in sport announced in the new OS seem calibrated for such a device.
While the Series 8 isn’t expected to get any big changes, as the S8 chip that will power it has the same specs as the S7, next year’s models are expected to feature an all-new processor.
As for the new low-cost SE model, it should have the same screen as its predecessor marketed in 2020. On the other hand, Mark Gurman assures that it will be equipped with an S8 chip, against an S5 processor for the Apple Watch previous OS.
Apple will unveil several iPads
According to the specialist, Apple is preparing to unveil several new iPads, starting this fall with “ a new low-end iPad with an A14 chip and 5G ”, which should be equipped with a USB-C cable. As a reminder, the European Union will force all manufacturers to use this refill format to fight against electronic waste.
Gurman also predicts the release of new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros later this year, and says they’ll be powered by the M2 chip, which Apple officially announced at its developer conference. Also, the analyst expects that another iPad, presenting an even larger screen, will be marketed during the next two years, in order to improve the experience of Stage Manager, the multitasking interface recently presented by the apple mark.
Apple’s first mixed reality headset is coming
During its conference, Apple also announced that its next 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will be equipped with the M2 chip, but, according to Gurman, many other products planned for 2023 will incorporate it: a Mac mini M2, a Mac mini M2 Pro, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max, Mac Pro M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme.
Above all, the new processor made in Apple should equip the company’s long-awaited mixed reality headset, conspicuously absent from WWDC 2022. These predictions are in line with those of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who announced the postponement of the release of this helmet for the second quarter of 2023.
Apple would also be developing the M3 chip, which could equip new computers, including an iMac, from next year.
HomePod, Apple TV, AirPods Pro 2…
And that’s not all. The Cupertino company should update its AirPods Pro. The second iteration of the headphones should therefore benefit from a better chip and improved sound quality with support for Lossless. A next-gen HomePod is also said to be in the US giant’s small papers and is expected to launch in 2023. It will use the S8 chip and be closer to the original HomePod in size and audio performance than the HomePod mini. The new HomePod will have an updated screen on top. Finally, a new Apple TV device is also planned, with an improved processor as well as an additional gigabyte of RAM.
For now, these announcements are not official but Mark Gurman is generally very well informed. Apple’s frenetic pace reflects its current health: despite the pandemic and the shortage of electronic components, the apple brand has never been so successful and recorded a record first quarter of 2022 with a turnover of 97, $3 billion.
