The Boérebroélof in Venlo was actually canceled when the mainland association Jocus pulled the plug on all events a few months ago. But under the leadership of Venlo joekskapellen, the party continued on Tuesday afternoon, with an entirely female bridal couple.
Roxanne Elt and Debby Buskes were the first all-female Boérebroélof couple to go down in history on Tuesday.

The broodspare from 2005 to 2020 have been drummed up in recent weeks to make an appearance on Tuesday afternoon. As a result, the party continued in a familiar way: with a parade through the city center with people dressed as farmers and whoppers’ chapels, followed by a ceremony on the Markt. This time it was not from the closed landing of the town hall, but from the adjacent balcony of Café Central. During the event, the former bridal couples were able to sing their tune one more time, followed by a unanimous ‘Holladijee’.

On Tuesday morning, the idea had arisen for calling out a new, playful bridal couple. As a result, De Boérebroélof had a unique event in 2022: a new, lesbian couple that was not chosen by Jocus, but who were spontaneously conjured up from the top hat. The two ladies were connected in the ‘on-ech’ on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Elt and Buskes, the bridal couple is a clear signal to Jocus that something like this is ‘not strange at all’ in 2022. “Just like a princess, by the way”, Elt and Buskes say in unison, who are actually not a couple at all in daily life.

The traditional Boérebroélof on Tuesdays is always organized by an association or neighborhood club or other large group of people. Festival Zomerparkfeest has been in the waiting room for two years and will now only be the organizing club’s turn in 2023.
