Disclosure about ‘corruption’ FC Barcelona: ‘Six million euros towards referee commission’ | Foreign football

More revelations are coming out in the Spanish media about the involvement of football club FC Barcelona in a possible corruption scandal.

Since 2001, according to daily newspaper El Mundo, the club has made fraudulent payments of more than €6 million to a company owned by the former vice president of the country’s refereeing committee, José Maria Enriquez Negreira.

Previously, it was 1.4 million euros. After the resignation of the official in question, payments would have continued, because the man threatened to reveal the scandal. The Public Prosecution Service of Spain has already indicated that it is conducting an investigation.

Trainer Xavi of the leader of the Spanish league wants to wait for further investigations before making any statements about it. He did say: ,,If I notice that we are winning by cheating, I will go home.”

Barcelona played a draw against Manchester United in the intermediate round of the Europa League in front of their own audience on Thursday. The spectacle ended in 2-2.
