Discarded 1860 pro Kevin Goden in TM interview on his future

TM interview

Kevin Goden was on the pitch for 90 minutes on Saturday for TSV 1860 Munich – but not in the service of the professionals coached by coach Michael Köllner, but for the second substitute, who separated goalless from SV Kirchanschöring in the Bayernliga Süd. In the Transfermarkt interview, the 23-year-old talks about his current situation with the lions. The right-back with Bundesliga experience, who switched from 1. FC Nürnberg to Grünwalder Straße on a free transfer last summer and played 23 games in the 3rd division last season (3 goals, 1 assist in 490 minutes), has a look combative for the future.

Transfer market: Mr. Goden, your contract with TSV 1860 Munich runs until 2023, but you are no longer planned for Michael Köllner’s first team, at least for the time being. How surprising did this decision come to you about three weeks ago?

Kevin Goden: Of course I had noticed that many newcomers were signed (to the transfer overview of TSV 1860), but I hadn’t counted on it 100 percent.

Transfer market: You have been training and playing with the second team since the beginning of July and recently scored in the friendly against Ampfing. How do you personally deal with the current situation?

Goden: I keep training and trying to get the best out of everything. So I’m also happy that I was able to show with a goal that I don’t stick my head in the sand.

Transfer market: Do you think the door to the first team is irrevocably closed at Sixty or could a rethink take place at Köllner if you recommend yourself again with good performances in the Bayernliga. Is that your motivation at the moment?

Goden: I think the doors open or close both ways, so I’m not copying anything. I try to keep my level as high as possible and that is always my aim.

1860 Munich: Goden “confident that a solution will be found”

Transfer market: Should the TSV 1860 chapter be over for the time being, how do you look back on the year with the lions?

Goden: Very positive. At first there was a sporting problem, which of course wasn’t easy. But I think you saw later that I can bring my quality to the pitch – with goals or assists, among other things. And that’s exactly where I want to continue.

Transfer market: In the “Merkur” you could read that 1860 wanted to support you in finding a club and would not put any obstacles in your way in the event of a change – have there already been concrete discussions about the future?

Goden: Of course, it’s not easy at the moment when it comes to planning for the future. But I am confident that a solution will be found in the near future.

Transfer market: You are only 23 years old and still have many years ahead of you as a professional soccer player. In which league or in which country are your priorities with a view to the future?

Goden: I don’t want to think too far ahead. In the near future it’s important for me to get as much playing time as possible and to prove my qualities even more – and thus to arouse interest, be it in higher leagues in Germany or possibly abroad.

Transfer market: Where do you personally see your strengths and where are there things you want or need to work on?

Goden: My speed is what stands out the most. In addition, I am physically very robust and stable. I’ve always been trained offensively and I know where the goal and my team-mates are – be it on the wing or as a striker.

Transfer market: What are your sporting goals for the coming years?

Goden: I always want to develop further, both as a sport and as a person. I would like to gain playing time and thus more experience. And of course being able to celebrate team and personal successes.
