Telstar took one point back to Velsen-Zuid in a disappointing match against Jong AZ. It was and remained 0-0 tonight. Telstar attacker Christos Giousis missed a penalty in the second half.
In the first half nothing exciting happened for a long time. After a wrong assumption by Misha Engel, there was a chance for Jay Kruiver who shot the ball hard past the goal of Jong AZ keeper Sem Westerveld.
The game was briefly halted in the first half when a ball boy became unwell. After help from the first aid, the boy was helped to his feet and the match could be resumed.

There were also few highlights in the second half. David Min headed a cross over. In the 69th minute, Delvechio Blackson headed the ball dangerously towards Jong AZ’s goal from a corner, but his effort was caught by keeper Westerveld.
Penalty kick Telstar
Westerveld again distinguished himself in the 74th minute. After a handball in the penalty area of Jong AZ, the ball hit the spot. As Glynor Plet had already been substituted, Christos Gioussis went behind the ball. He shot the ball into the left corner, but Westerveld dove in the same direction and prevented the 0-1.
Joshua Pynadath put keeper Ronald Koeman Jr. to work in the last minute with a long shot. The ensuing corner came to nothing. As a result, the match ended as it began: 0-0. Both teams don’t do much with that. Jong AZ is in eighth place in the first division with 17 points. Telstar remains thirteenth with one point less. Telstar will receive FC Dordrecht in its own stadium on Friday.
