‘Disappeared’ artwork returned to Paterswolde thanks to creative asylum seekers

Artist Peter Tholen decided to work on Smith’s work together with Siebe Diertens, former caretaker of the Bladergroenschool. According to Tholen, the symbolism of the artwork also applies to asylum seekers who have often experienced all kinds of things, but ultimately leave the asylum center as citizens of the Netherlands.

Ultimately, the wall with the artwork made by asylum seekers will be removed later this year to reveal the original artwork. This happens when the temporary residents leave the asylum seeker shelter in Paterswolde.
