Dirk De Wachter, two years after the cancer diagnosis: “No signs of recurrence for the time being. I would like to live another 35 years”

Psychiatrist Dirk De Wachter (63) has published a new book, but much more importantly: he is doing well again. He’s tired, yes. And the energy level could be better. But two years after the diagnosis that hit him like a wet mop in the neck, it seems – and he says it carefully, it seems – that there is no more cancer in his body. “And even if it comes back,” he says in a long conversation, “I’m not immediately dead. I’m counting on the fact that I can continue for a number of years.”
