He takes his hat but remains firmly in the saddle!

The federal police headquarters in Berlin (4000 employees) said goodbye to one of their most popular bosses in the cavalry squadron on Friday.

Director Karl-Heinz Weidner (61) is retiring after 42 years. Federal Police President Dieter Romann (60) praised Weidner’s “courage to make decisions”, his “feeling for people” and his “careful and profound considerations”. He was director for three and a half years.

Weidner – just called “der P” within the authorities – is still connected to the management: he will traditionally keep his sponsorship of the action horse “Oskar”.

By the way: Berlin’s police chief Barbara Slowik (56) and Brandenburg’s police chief Oliver Stepien (56) also have sponsorships with “Mustang” and “Oristano” in the cavalry squadron.
