Director Espinosa does not manage to give the material wings for a second in Morbius ★☆☆☆☆

morbius

Suffering from a fatal blood disease, Doctor Morbius (Jared Leto, first emaciated, then well-muscled) knows it’s a bad idea to mix his DNA with that of vampire bats. Why else would he conduct the experiment in a freighter manned by mercenaries? In any case, that location does nothing for the film itself, just like the tough script, the worn special effects, the lame dialogues and static renditions with which the Marvel comic series Morbius the Living Vampire has been translated to the silver screen.

The third production at Sony’s Spider Man Universe (after Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage) shows how Morbius struggles with his bloodlust and batman abilities, supported by fellow doctor and perhaps lover Martine (Adria Arjona). Meanwhile, patron and fellow sufferer Milo (Matt Smith) sows death and destruction, without director Espinosa succeeding in giving the material wings for a single second. It’s clearly angling for a sequel morbius does not even amuse as superhero spectacle of the third garnish.
