Well, that takes some getting used to for Andy van der Meijde’s viewers: he is now also going to invite party leaders. The first is Dilan Yesilgöz and that creates tension among his audience. “So disappointed.”
Andy van der Meijde has been making a light-hearted program on YouTube for years in which he interviews all kinds of celebrities while driving through the Netherlands. These are often conversations with a humorous undertone, but that is hard to find in the latest episode with Dilan Yesilgöz (VVD) as a guest. He makes her give a rather boring campaign story for 45 minutes.
In the gutter
Andy’s viewers react extremely negatively, as can be seen in it comment field under the episode. Almost everyone is angry with the presenter, who exceptionally – because of her security – this time stops his car. “Bro Andy, what are you doing old man,” it sounds. And another: “I didn’t know Andy could talk to snakes.”
It’s really striking how many of Andy’s viewers are angry about this. “What is this Andy, fuck off man. This lady already gets enough of a platform and that party has thrown the Netherlands into the gutter. Because of twelve years of Rutte,” says another.
Unfollowed
One Nive himself has decided to unfollow Andy. “It is understandable that she does this before an election time. That Andy does this is a step towards his normal supporters/audience. This says a lot about you. Unsubbed.”
The VVD paid for this, someone else suggests. “How much did they pay you Andy?”
One Sam: “Maybe submit a WOO request for this. 😂 I’m probably thinking a good 30k.”
Criminal
The massiveness of the criticism is surprising to some. For example, Milo writes: “These reactions are bizarre, people act as if Dilan is a criminal. You may not agree with her, but Jesus Christ, what simple souls are talking here.”
Someone else then: “I lasted ten minutes, but I’m so disappointed with this from you Andy, I didn’t expect you to give her an extra platform at all, someone who deserves absolutely NO attention in my eyes. My respect for you has dropped considerably after this video and I’m now really thinking about whether I should press that unsub button.”
‘Prefer Wilders!’
Why are Andy’s supporters so angry? Which political corner does his supporters actually belong to? There are in the comments actually only two politicians mentioned. “Next time Geert in the car🇳🇱,” says a certain Jochem.
Another: “Next time Geert Wilders, Andy.”
And yet another person points to the new FvD party leader: “Invite Lidewij from FvD too, right, Andy?”
Mr. Andries concludes: “I only come here to indicate that it was an incredibly stupid choice to offer this woman a platform, Andy. Furthermore, I will certainly not watch the episode.”
