The Museum of Technology has the Anhalter Bahnhof brought back to life as a simulation. This makes history come alive and also satisfies a great longing of Berliners.
You walk across the Askanen Platz, your gaze wanders over the upper-class houses along the small green area. Then you enter the vestibule, you marvel at the marble columns, the tiled floors and the imposing glass roof. Maybe a look from the gallery at the tracks with the trains? Or directly to the platforms, where the locomotives are steaming and people still want to catch their train with quick steps?
With the digital animation of the Anhalter Bahnhof, the Museum of Technology has achieved great things: It makes history come alive, gives a good impression of the lost magnificent building and satisfies a great longing that everyone who lives in this city probably has. See what Berlin looked like before the Nazis drove this country into a terrible war.
Today only the ruined portal tells of the history of the place and of the people who fled abroad in the hope of protection and safety. It is the right place for the planned exile museum. Also because the Foundation Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation has found its home not far from the square.
In addition, the design of the Danish architect is great. That’s rare enough in Berlin.
