Social media platforms such as TikTok and BeReal are increasingly taking the place of Meta in the digital world of young Flemish people. And they use TikTok very intensively, according to the Digimeter of research center imec, which studies the digital habits of the Flemish people, on Thursday. This is accompanied by a special love-hate relationship: the more time young people spend on Tiktok, the more they feel that they become dependent on the app. More generally, many Flemish people also feel ‘smartphone dependent’.
