Difficult victory for Roda JC | 1Limburg

Roda JC has booked a 2-1 victory over Jong Utrecht, the number 19 in the ranking. The Kerkrade goals came from Davy van den Berg and Robert Klaasen.

On a field that was difficult to play on, due to the winter conditions, Roda JC played against an ailing Jong Utrecht that had lost the last five games. Before that, there was a beautiful tribute to Roda icon Frits Schrouff, who recently passed away.

strong opening
As the position in the ranking already suggested, the Kerkrades immediately went looking for the lead. That immediately led to danger for the goal of Thijmen Nijhuis, who is back in the base of Jong Utrecht after a failed rental period at MVV. A real pinball machine after a good attack did not yield the dream start for the time being.

wintery
The conditions were getting worse, making it more difficult for Roda to show their footballing ability against a well-organized team of Darije Kalezic. In the 37th minute, however, they managed to come out well again. An excellent attack that started with Xian Emmers also ended with him. His shot, however, was nicely saved by Nijhuis.

Head Start
Just when the supporters in the Parkstad Limburg stadium thought they would warm up with a 0-0 half-time score, they were still able to cheer on the stroke of half-time. Again Roda quickly combined and eventually the ball ended up with Davy van den Berg. Van Den Berg, who is rented from Jong Utrecht, did not hesitate for a moment and shot the ball under Nijhuis in one go for the 1-0.

equalizer
in the 53rd minute, the game was briefly halted. A snowball was thrown from the audience towards goalkeeper Nijhuis. Referee Jannick van der Laan then decided to order a short cooling off period. The Kerkrades did not do this well, because completely out of the blue, Jong Utrecht equalized a few minutes later. Derensili Sanches Fernandes got the ball through a defensive leg from Roda with luck. This allowed him to shoot freely on goal and through De Boer’s legs he equalized.

Back in the lead
In the 74th minute, luck was on the side of the Kerkrades this time. After a good push from Patrick Pflücke, a Roda attack remained alive. The ball eventually ended up with substitute Robert Klaasen, after which his shot was changed direction, so goalkeeper Nijhuis had no chance.

Victory
Where Roda often had trouble holding onto a lead this season, Jurgen Streppel’s team was able to keep the opponent under control this time. In Kerkrade, for example, the whistle was blown after a difficult match, but with an optimal result. The victory moves Roda to fifth place in the Kitchen Champion Division. Roda will play the catch-up match at Jong AZ next Monday. With a win, the Kerkrades number four FC Eindhoven approach two points.

The match Jong AZ-Roda JC can be followed on Monday evening from 8 p.m. via L1 Sport Radio.
