The competition on the normal hill, which took place in bright sunshine, had to be repeatedly interrupted due to changing winds.
The Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber, who jumped 103.5 meters, coped best with the conditions, Ryota Yamamoto from Japan jumped the same distance. Julian Schmid even jumped 104 meters, but didn’t get quite as good grades. In the end it was enough for third place in front of the Austrians Franz-Josef Rehrl and Martin Fritz.
Lamparter, Oftebro and Geiger almost without a chance
The competition was pretty disappointing for Johannes Lamparter from Austria. As one of the top favourites, he only jumped 93 meters and thus ranked 17th. Even the highly valued Jens Lurås Oftebro from Norway cannot be satisfied with 93 meters and 12th place.
Vinzenz Geiger also almost has to bury his medal dreams. The man from Oberstdorf only jumped 92.5 meters and finished just behind Eric Frenzel in 15th place.
The decision will be made in cross-country skiing over 10 kilometers from 3.30 p.m.
