The cabaret artist Dieter Hallervorden has filed a criminal complaint against Friedrich Merz (CDU)-together with the former left-wing politician Diether Dehm. That reports the Berliner Zeitung. The background is Merz ‘statement in a ZDF interview in which he described the Israeli attack on Iran as “dirty work that Israel power for all of us”.
Said wording was originally used by ZDF presenter Diana Zimmermann in a question. Merz had taken them up in agreement. “Ms. Zimmermann, I am grateful for the term dirt work. This is the dirty work that Israel does for all. We are also affected by this regime. This Mullah regime has brought death and destruction over the world,” said Merz and caused criticism.
Dieter Hallervorden: Criminal complaint against Friedrich Merz speaks of contradiction to the UN charta
According to the report, the criminal complaint states that the commissioning of a military first strike as an alleged “dirty work for all of us” not only violate Article 26 of the Basic Law, but also in contradiction to the UN charta.
Specifically, reference is made to Article 2.3 in the criminal complaint against Friedrich Merz. This obliges to settle international disputes. It is also referred to Article 2.4, which prohibits the application or threat of violence against territorial integrity or political independence of a state.
Friedrich Merz made himself punishable, even if he did not make the statement in Germany, but on the edge of the G7 summit in Canada, Dehm argued “Jewish general“. The Chancellor violated, among other things, about Article 26 of the Basic Law.
Accordingly, actions that can disturb the peaceful coexistence of peoples are unconstitutional. “If a German head of government believes in his role model function to be able to violate Ar. 26 in this way and publicly, even more people in Germany could feel encouraged to propagate wars of attack,” said the report.
According to the newspaper, the advertisement had already been submitted to the general prosecutor and the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, according to the newspaper.
Further information on the criminal complaint against Friedrich Merz
A total of around 20 people signed the criminal complaint, including artists, publicists and former politicians. In the letter, Friedrich Merz is not only accused of approval of military strikes contrary to international law. The wording “dirty work” is also placed in a historical context: the signatories refer to the use of the same term by an SS officer in connection with Babi Yar’s massacre in 1942.
