With its new athleisure line for the summer, Diesel hopes to open up a new field of business. The Italian denim label is also investing in its presence in the Japanese market with its next fashion show.
The Diesel Sport line will be available in stores and online just in time for summer 2022. Full of retro sports aesthetics, the designs were inspired by archival codes, Diesel announced on Tuesday. This includes strong primary colors in color blocking and playing with proportions. Distinctive logo stripes are also reminiscent of the 90s and early 2000s.
Collection for all genders
The collection caters to all genders with sports bras, bodysuits, sweatshirts, hoodies and t-shirts. Moisture-wicking fabrics, recycled polyester and wind and rainproof materials have been used in the garments, which are designed for both sport and lounge.
Prices range from 65 euros for t-shirts and tank tops to 195 euros for jackets and hoodies.
Fashion show and pop-up in Tokyo
The brand, which belongs to the Italian fashion group OTB, is not only present in new segments, but also in existing markets. Japan is one of the most important markets with more than 100 shops directly operated by Diesel.
To strengthen its presence, the brand is opening a new pop-up store in Tokyo’s premium shopping district of Ginza. The store also marks the launch of the interactive project Diesel Studio, which explores Tokyo’s mix of cultures with events and activities.
Also on June 9th, the Japanese capital will host a remake of Creative Director Glenn Martens’ Fall Winter 2022 show with its larger-than-life characters. The line was originally presented in Milan in February.
