A nice boost for Femke Markus in the first stage of the Tour de Femmes today. The cyclist from Diemen took the only points for the polka dot jersey twenty kilometers before the finish. That’s why she can wear the first polka dot jersey in thirteen years tomorrow.
The Tour de Femmes will be held again this year for the first time since 2009. From 1984 to 2009 there was already a female variant for the Tour de France (Le Tour Féminin). From 2014, an annual one-day competition for women was organized during the Tour (La Course).
The stage was won by Lorena Wiebes. The Tour for women will last until July 31.
