Second division soccer team SV Sandhausen has extended the contract with captain Dennis Diekmeier, which is due to expire in the summer, by two more years.
The club announced this shortly before the game against Dynamo Dresden. The 32-year-old defender has been playing in Sandhausen since January 2019.
“As the captain and crowd favorite, he has become a fixture in the Hardtwald, both for the team and off the pitch,” said the Baden team’s sporting director, Mikayil Kabaca. “Special mention should also be made of his financial concessions in extending the contract, which applies to both the 2nd and 3rd divisions.” He likes the club environment and is happy “to be able to give something back by helping the club during these difficult times,” said ex-Bundesliga professional Diekmeier.
