The historical head of the custody of Cristina Kirchner, Diego Carbone, did not accompany her in the last parties in El Calafate because he had francs to take. His boss, who usually reserves the honor of dining together for him, is amused by a recent fact in the life of the bodyguard: he became kickboxing champion.
In the penultimate week of November, Carbone traveled to Brazil with his colleague Adrian Quinonez to participate in the finals of the world martial arts tournament on behalf of the World Kickboxing Network Argentina (WKN), an organization devised by the late Jorge “Acero” Cali, with whom the custodian of CFK had a good relationship.
In the environment of kickboxing Carbone is nicknamed “The Guardian”. He comfortably beat the local Valdir Cardoso and then spoke in a report on the program “Knockout9”, on Channel 9: “This was achieved with many bruises and a lot of effort. I owe this first to Adrián (Quiñonez) and Jorge (Cali), who was the one who instilled this in us, the one who started full contact and kickboxing in Argentina”. In May he will have to revalidate the title, also with the Brazilians.
When Cristina returned to power as the running mate of Alberto FernandezIn December 2019, the then Minister of Security, Sabina Frederic, created a special division of the Federal Police under the command of Carbone, who today serves as head of the Vice Presidential Security Department. He himself is a retired commissioner of that force.
He has a phrase in Italian tattooed on his back: “Pain is temporary, glory forever.” And in his last available affidavit, from 2020, he declared 12 million pesos, twice as much as the previous year. According to this rendering of accounts, he maintains a house of 1,072 square meters in “El Encuentro”, a private neighborhood located in Benavídez that Jorge Lanata showed in his program Periodismo Para Todos. There and not in El Calafate they assure that he spent the last days of 2021.
