The Fantastischen Vier have re-recorded their breakthrough single “Die Da!?!” and announced the upcoming record “The Liechtenstein Tapes”, consisting of 15 new interpretations, for January 13th.
The production was recorded with an eight-piece live band in the Liechtenstein-Austrian “The Little Big Beat Studios”.
Old vs. new: “Die Da!?!” 1992 and 2022
In the 90s, the song was criticized by the German hip-hop scene for being too commercial and not corresponding to underground values. Elsewhere, the play has been criticized for using explicit gender stereotypes. As a result, Die Fantastischen Vier did not play “Die Da!?!” live for years because they said they had distanced themselves from the song.
Michi Beck recently told the “Wiener Zeitung” about the story behind the track: “We haven’t played the song for a long time and only dared to do it again four years ago. The time difference was good because the song is now so old and a classic that we deal with it more relaxed today.”
In terms of sound, the 2022 version sounds fuller, and horns have also been added. The punctuation marks of “Die Da!?!” (1992) to Die Da?!? (2022).

Band member And.Ypsilon can be quoted as follows in the press release on the background of the work: “Our aim was to record the pieces that we have recorded over the many years using very different recording methods as a whole work in a uniform instrumentation with the today’s possibilities of analog and digital technology.”
It goes on to say that the production will contain the “greatest songs from very different eras the way they have to sound today, in 2022”. “The original studio version meets the best of the live version.”
The record should include interpretations of “Harvest What We Sow”, “She Is Gone”, “Day by the Sea”, “Endzeitstimmung” and “Warrior”.
