Die Ärzte and Toten Hosen celebrate successful album anniversaries

If “13”, the doctors’ eighth studio album, weren’t a record, but let’s say: a married couple, then this year would be their silver wedding anniversary. The album with the black billiard ball on the cover was released 25 years ago. May 25, 1998 to be exact. Now Die Ärzte have released a new edition of the album and have landed at number three in the German vinyl charts.

Not only the doctors have reason to celebrate. Die Toten Hosen also celebrated the 30th anniversary of their eighth studio album in May. “Buy me!” first appeared in 1993 and has now been reissued. Both in 1993 and today, 30 years later, the record is popular with Hosen fans: the reissue climbed to second place in the Official German Vinyl Charts.

The doctors are reissuing their album “13” on vinyl

In Germany, Die Ärzte’s “13” went platinum at the time and stayed at the top of the album charts for 29 weeks. Her accompanying single “Men are pigs” was in the top 100 of the German charts for 25 weeks. The reissue of “13” is released exclusively as a vinyl album (including download code) – not in the typical 12-inch LP format, but on two 10-inch EP records. Just like 25 years ago. The 1998 vinyl version of the album was released in a limited edition of 500 copies, also as a double EP in 10″ format. To this day, the vinyl edition of this doctor’s album is considered a rarity among collectors and is sold for several hundred euros.

Die Toten Hosen “Buy ME!” #2 on the vinyl charts

On May 10, 1993 the eighth album by Toten Hosen was released. Back then, “Kauf ME!” first place in the German charts. Today, 30 years after its release, the new edition of the record is almost at the top of the charts. With the new edition of “Kauf ME!” climb the Hosen to second place in the German vinyl charts; the two big hits are called “Everything out of love” and “Wünsch dir was”. To mark the milestone birthday, the long player has now been released on vinyl in an exclusive limited and numbered anniversary edition.
