Wilma Murto is a tattoo lover.
Wilma Murron the right thigh is decorated with a tattoo. It says “above all”.
The first phrase could be imagined to be concretely related to crossing the bar in a competition. According to the recent pole vault World Cup medalist, it’s also about something else.
– A tattoo is ambiguous. It’s a sports tattoo, but it also tells about close people and that you can overcome any situation. More than anything, there is a saying that has been going around in my circle, says Murto.

The Finnish star got the tattoo last October in Italy, where he was on vacation with his spouse Jaakko Linkoheimon with.
Both like tattoos. The Link tribe has plenty of tattoos on their hands and feet, the Murro tribe also has a stamp on their arm.
– I am a sentimental tattoo taker. I’m considering getting a tattoo if something feels meaningful, says Murto.
It is not yet certain whether Murto will immortalize something new on his skin in honor of the World Cup medal.
– I’m bad at making appointments. It’s incompetence.

Late on Wednesday, Murto won the WC bronze medal in the pole vault with a score of 480. At the same time, Finland’s dreary streak was broken.
Before Wednesday, eight years had passed since Finland’s last World Cup medal. Tero Pitkämäki won the 2015 World Championship bronze medal in the javelin throw in Beijing.
It is an honor for Murro to join the ranks of legends like Pitkämäki.
– I have joined Tero’s clubs little by little. My posture improves to be able to say that. I have followed Tero’s career closely since I was little, and looked up to him. Based on the way he still acts, he is a role model for me.
– I am happy that I can say that I belong to Tero’s club.

There were strong expectations for Murto before the World Championships in Budapest, as a medal – even a gold one – was likely. The star feels that he didn’t let too much pressure into his head.
– I am really satisfied that I was able to take one step in my career and an achievement in my own books. The feeling is that I haven’t carried too much pressure myself.
The International Athletics Federation WA paid Murro about 20,200 euros for the World Championship bronze. The destination for the money is already ready.
– If there are any bonuses, they will certainly shorten the loan. It has a purpose, Murto laughed.
Right now, Murto wants to enjoy the medal rush. After autumn, a holiday trip to Spain is booked.
– Let’s float in the mood now, more detailed analyzes later.
