Did you notice? Krista Pärmäkoski showed the Norwegians where the closet was

Expert Reijo Jylhä packed Tour de Ski stage 3/7.

Krista Pärmäkoski took his first podium place of the season with his brilliant last few hundred meters on Tuesday in Oberdstdorf’s traditional 10 split start race.

At the intermediate point of 8.3 kilometers, the woman was fourth. The difference to the podium was a couple of seconds.

In the closing stages of the goal Anne Kjersti Kalvå (third) bent 1.5 and Tiril Weng (fourth) 3.4 seconds.

It wasn’t the first time that the Finn showed the place of the locker to his racing sisters at the end of the race.

– The feature is a strength and a challenge for Krista, begins Iltalehti’s skiing expert Reijo Jylhä.

Then he deepens his analysis of Pärmäkoski’s coach Matti Haaviston for exercises.

– Krista has had upward intensity exercises throughout her career. It means that we constantly increase the power during the exercise. In competitive performances, we are used to the fact that the end will be hard. What is practiced usually develops. He is a muscular skier with good basic speed and can ski hard with a 20-meter flying start, says Jylhä.

– The challenge comes in the fact that if you go hard at the beginning of the competition, Krista has sometimes had trouble keeping up, Jylhä, who has been the head coach of the national team for nine years, continues.

The expert reminded already after stages 1–2 of the Tour of Val Müstair that Pärmäkoski’s performances are better than the results.

– Even though Krista’s results have varied, the skiing has looked sharp throughout the early season.

Can’t count

Kerttu Niskanen the day in Oberstdorf was gloomy. The fifth place is not bad in terms of results, but Niskanen is always only looking for a place on the podium when we go for the traditional split start.

The athlete complained about ski grip problems.

The expert also highlights the calculation problems.

– It’s not how much time he loses on downhills, but also the fact that he’s constantly braking and straining his legs – it affects the entire performance. The conditions were not optimal for Kertu’s characteristics. He had to put his skis on the skids, commented Jylhä.

– Saw that in the last lap to the intermediate point he had challenges running uphill. The grip was good, but how much grip had been lost due to plowing, the expert continues.

Niskanen is still, at least on paper, in the Tour’s top fight. Divorce to Frida Karlsson is 41 seconds. Weng and Kalvå are 21 seconds apart.

On Wednesday, Ober’s program includes a 20-kilometer free pursuit.

– The figure skating competition in Oberstdorf has always been challenging for Finns. Kertu and Krista should take the fight win from that, when thinking about the overall Tour podium places.

Pärmäkoski has a lead of 1.43.

– On Friday, the traditional sprint of Val di Fiemme is a moderately significant race. It is assumed that Weng in the final. Also, Krista and Kertu should at least reach the finals, so that placing in the top three on the Tour is realistic. The situation finally culminates in the 15-kilometer traditional joint start of Fiemme on Saturday.

Another champion of the year has caused a stir on the Tour Jessie Diggins collapse.

– He was damn bad on Tuesday. It can’t be explained only by the ski.

Diggins was in his late 40s. He is 35th overall in the Tour.

– If his condition is at all OK, he will be tough on Wednesday. Along with Frida, she should be strong for that terrain.
