The video that has now surfaced is said to show Smith’s wife’s reaction. It was recorded from the front rows of the audience. The clip shows the view of the stage where Chris Rock and Will Smith are at the beginning. The slap itself can no longer be seen, the video is just starting when Smith turns to leave.
Smith moves back to his seat, his facial expression barely recognizable due to the poor image quality. Jada Pinkett Smith sits with her back to the camera, her hands clasped in her lap. Chris Rock’s comment, “Wow, Will Smith just smashed my face,” is heard laughter from the audience and Smith’s wife also leans forward as if laughing. However, the picture quality leaves doubts.

Will Smith shouts his now famous lines about Rock not to mention his wife’s name on stage, and Smith explains it was a joke. Throughout, Jada Pinkett Smith’s eyes are fixed on the stage, she doesn’t seem to be looking at her husband.
In the comments on the video, users blame his wife: “She put him on a leash” or “She ruined Will’s life,” they write. One post even says, “I like Will, but I can’t stand stupid Jada.” Neither spouse has commented on the video.

Another video detailing Chris Rock’s reaction also made the rounds recently. His look is shown shortly after the attack. He seems irritated and lost in thought when he is handed an Oscar to be awarded in the course of his subsequent presentation. He looks around the area, looks up and doesn’t seem to know what to do with himself.

Most recently, Rock had stated in his first statement after the slap that he still had to “process” the situation. Will Smith posted an apology to the comedian on Instagram the day after the attack, after the Academy’s disciplinary investigation into him had already begun.
It was recently revealed that the actor was to be expelled from the event and defied the order, only to later accept an Oscar. The police were present but could not intervene because Rock did not want to report him.
