On May 16, the defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp started after a week’s hiatus. On the same day of the trial, Heard claimed that she lost business and her Aquaman 2 role was cut as a result of Depp’s smear campaign.

Amber Heard is said to only have a 10-minute cast in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Petitions had previously surfaced seeking to have the actress removed from the film entirely. In this context, Heard stated that Warner Bros did not want to include her. As a result, the final script featured a very stripped down version of her original role.
“I was given a script and then new versions of the script that cut out scenes that had action. In it, my character and another character were supposed to fight each other without giving away spoilers. They basically took a bunch out of my role,” Heard said.

Heard also stressed that after Depp’s split, she would have to fight hard to survive in the entertainment industry. After she obtained a domestic violence restraining order against him in 2016, he launched an elaborate smear campaign against her. This should harm her career.
“I lost chances. I was fighting to keep my job and the biggest film opportunity I’ve had to date with Justice League and the option to star in Aquaman. I had to fight really hard to stay in Justice League because that was divorce time.”
