On Monday, the ticket seller Eventim’s shares fell by almost nine percent – just two days after a contribution in “ZDF Magazin Royale”.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, Jan Böhmermann criticized the ticket seller and concert organizer Eventim in his late night show “ZDF Magazin Royale”. In the program entitled “With fantasy fees to an event empire”, the satirist criticized the extreme market power and high ticket sales fees. Böhmermann also noted that CTS-Eventim received a total of 276 million euros in corona aid from the state.
Several media are now reporting – including “The daily News” – that Eventim shares have fallen sharply since Monday (June 12, 2023). The public broadcaster explains that the share fell by around 8.8 percent over the course of the day, although the market environment was otherwise “friendly”. Whether the share collapse is a direct reaction to Böhmermann’s criticism cannot be proven at the moment – it is not at all absurd, however, according to the “Berliner Zeitung” and “Der Spiegel”.
Jan Böhmermann is known for his provocative theses, satirical comments and his “ZDF Magazin Royale” editorial team for investigative journalism. This year, “ZDF Magazin Royale” received the “Grimme Prize” in the “Entertainment” category for the third time in a row.
