In the case of “Anissa” there is an urgent suspicion against Gökdeniz A. (19) – but how sure can the investigators be? The BZ answers the most important questions.

The suspect is in custody. Accused of the manslaughter of only five-year-old Anissa from Pankow. It’s Gökdeniz A. (19) from Wedding. The son of a friend of Anissa’s mother. Closely related, but not by blood. Anissa’s family values that.

Gökdeniz A. is said to be responsible for manslaughter (he faces up to 15 years in prison).

What are the pros?

“There is the gap for the time that the accused was alone with the later victim. And he can’t explain it. And he doesn’t say anything about that either,” said Sebastian Büchner, spokesman for the Berlin public prosecutor’s office.

What speaks for his innocence?

The investigators are said to have found “no blood adhesions” on Gökdeniz A.’s clothes and hands. Unusual if he’s supposed to have killed Anissa with a knife. At least that’s the allegation. “No comment on that,” the spokesman said yesterday. In addition, the knife has not yet been found.

Was there a “pre-crime” that the perpetrator wanted to cover up? A rape?

Spokesman Büchner: “The autopsy of the victim showed no evidence of sexual assault.”

Gökdeniz A. returned to the playground on Tuesday afternoon without Anissa. Said he lost her. If that’s true, could a third party have killed her?

“We have no indication that there could be a previously unknown third party,” said Büchner.

A police officer also searched for the knife on Thursday – so far there has been no trace of the murder weapon

But why wasn’t that a murder of the little girl?

Büchner: “So far there are no indications of a murder characteristic, so we are currently assuming manslaughter.”

Anissa was found on Tuesday evening. Gökdeniz A. arrested late Wednesday afternoon. The investigators are still looking for a possible motive, but the suspect is silent. “The investigations are still going on,” says Büchner.
