FOOTBALL – After eight matches without defeat, FC Emmen’s strong run came to an end last week. The defeat against Helmond Sport hit the players and technical staff hard, but the button was soon turned again.
That was different with some supporters, Dick Lukkien also noticed. “We are starting to look like a real football club. If you unexpectedly run into a defeat, there is talk about it and there is panic. Suddenly it is forgotten that we are unbeaten for eight games in a row and everyone wonders where it will go. But you just have to stay calm.”
From a diamond to a flat midfield
Yet Lukkien, for at least half an hour, was not really calm on the couch in Eindhoven. “We had trouble getting pressure on Jong PSV, who also played well. The diamond in the midfield did not work and we converted that after the first half hour to a more flat midfield, with four men in line. The lucky own goal helped us in the saddle and in the second half we scored two good goals, thanks to good pressure.”
And now on to place one? “No, stay calm. On to Friday, on to Jong FC Utrecht”, concludes the Veendammer coach.
