Diandra, 29, who won the Idols singing competition in 2012, talks about the harsh comments about her appearance in an interview with Anna magazine.
– Already at the age of 17, I had probably heard all possible slurs about myself when my appearance was criticized on internet discussion forums. It was raw and I couldn’t understand what made grown people call a young girl names.
According to Diandra, the entertainment industry is very appearance-oriented, and already during Idols, the singer started to worry about her teeth. He says that he is now going through another orthodontic treatment process. The singer, who has been in the public eye for 11 years, says that he struggles with various appearance pressures on a daily basis.
Other people’s opinions are also scary, although nowadays the feedback the singer receives is mostly positive.
– I don’t think I’ll ever completely get over the fear of what other people think of me. But every passing year has improved my confidence.
Time and the support received from colleagues have helped Diandra to understand that being criticized is the dark side of a public profession.

Celebrity friends
Diandra also says in Anna’s interview that nowadays her circle of friends mostly consists of public figures. The singer spends a lot of time in the “girl group”, which also includes misses Sara Sieppi and Sabina Särkkä.
– I find it easier to hang out in the company of other celebrities, because then I’m not the only one in the bar, for example. In civilian life, I don’t feel comfortable being the head of the mouth or the center of the group, Diandra sums up.
