Boateng is an issue again?
Matthijs de Ligt will be missing from FC Bayern for a longer period of time. On Thursday, the Munich team confirmed a partial tear in the medial ligament in his right knee, which the 24-year-old central defender sustained in the cup game against 1. FC Saarbrücken (1:2).
De Ligt will not be available “in the next few games”. The record champions did not give a more precise forecast. The top game in the Bundesliga is on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund, where de Ligt will certainly be missing. This is followed by the Champions League home game against Galatasaray, the league games against Heidenheim and Cologne as well as a meeting in the “premier league” with Copenhagen within the next four weeks. A report in the “Bild” newspaper had previously estimated the possible downtime to be up to two weeks longer. The paper also reportedthat the controversial ex-Munich player Jérôme Boateng (35) could now become a subject for a return.
Due to the injuries to Dayot Upamecano (25) and Tarek Buchmann (18), Min-jae Kim (26) only has one nominal central defender left in the FC Bayern squad who would be fit for action. Boateng, whose name has repeatedly been in the headlines in recent weeks, is without a club and has recently been keeping fit with the Munich team. Because of allegations of violent attacks against his ex-girlfriend, for which Boateng had already been sentenced to a million-dollar fine, the former national player will have to answer in court again in the near future. This is probably why Bayern refrained from signing him.
