Corinne Diacre will receive a severance package of nearly €900,000 from the French Football Federation after being sacked as coach of the France women’s national team. This was confirmed by Diacre’s lawyer to the AFP news agency on Tuesday.
Diacre was released on March 9, her contract ran until August 2024. L’Equipe had previously reported that Diacre should receive 870,000 euros. The sum equals her remaining salary plus an additional annual salary and a percentage of the bonuses she would have been entitled to if France had won this year’s World Cup or the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“The agreement shows the respect she deserves for the results she has achieved with France,” her lawyer Christophe Ayela was quoted as saying by AFP. Additional compensation for the image damage suffered by Diacre was the main point of the negotiations.
The separation took place after a revolt by their players. Herve Renard has now taken over the post, who should lead the selection at the World Championships in Australia and New Zealand (July 20 to August 20) and at the Olympics next year.
