Wants to end his career at Rosario
In the end, it was nothing more than a rumor that was carried too far and the unfavorable timing of an interview contribution that Ángel Di María found himself exposed to speculation about a change. The 34-year-old Juventus pro told Conmebol.com, posted shortly after Turin’s safe Champions League exit, that he would like to end his career at hometown club Rosario Central. Word quickly got out that the Argentinian reportedly wanted to leave Juve in January. Di María contradicted the false report on Thursday and demanded an end to the “lies” in clear words.
“I don’t know who came up with the rumors that I’m leaving in January,” the offensive player complained in a post on Instagram. His statements that he wanted to end his career at Rosario Central, “the club where I started”, according to Di María, have now been published, but: “These are statements that I have made since the day I Played here in Europe for the first time in 2007,” emphasizes the former PSG professional. “That doesn’t mean I want to go TODAY, nor will I go in January.”
Normally he would not react to these “lies” at all, but now Di María rumbled: Please stop inventing news. I’m very happy at this great club, very happy in this city and when I’m back in shape I’ll bring the best of myself to the team like I’ve always done when I’ve played here and in all the other teams that I was in.” Di María started off strong at Juventus, scoring in the first game after moving from Paris. However, the Argentinian was then repeatedly suspended or injured, including the decisive 3-4 win at Benfica Lisbon in the “premier class”. As a distant third in Group H, the “old lady” has at most the Europa League, although that is not yet certain either.
