DHB Cup: Rhein-Neckar Löwen move into the cup semi-finals

The Rhein-Neckar Löwen moved into the semi-finals of the DHB Cup with a clear victory against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf. Lower Saxony lost their quarter-final home game against the Löwen on Saturday (February 4th, 2023) by 25:31 (10:14).

The best pitcher in TSV coach Christian Prokop’s team was Vincent Büchner with seven goals. Uwe Gensheimer was successful nine times for the victorious Mannheim team. Hannover fell behind early on, but was not discouraged by a 5:10 (19th minute). A good three minutes before the final whistle, the “Recken” had reduced the deficit to two goals at 25:27. With an energetic final sprint, the guests made everything clear.

Flensburg-Handewitt and Lemgo also continued

Just six days after the end of the World Cup, SG Flensburg-Handewitt had significant problems against HSG Wetzlar at 28:29 (14:10). Only in the extra time did the team of trainer Maik Machulla, who had to do without playmaker Jim Gottfridsson (broken hand), complete the victory with several national players. In front of 4887 spectators, Johan Hansen and Magnus Röd were the best pitchers for the SG with seven goals each.

VfL Gummersbach was also defeated, TBV Lemgo won in Bergisches Land with 33:30 (18:14). THW Kiel will play against SC Magdeburg on Sunday (3:00 p.m.).
